Nelson Car Barn in 2012 a new car storage building was completed on the east side of the Illinois Terminal main line just north of the depot at the Museum site. The building contains three tracks and stores most of the restored passenger equipment. The switch for the building lead will exit the IT main line just behind the photographer position. With the building completed, the track begins to be extended to the waiting doors. An overall view of the new car barn's location to the display tracks. Track work inside the building New electrical service for all the buildings was also installed. With two tracks now operational, material gathers to complete the third track. In 2014, the Nelson Car Barn was extended to be even longer. This extension was made possible by the generous donation of a corporate donor.
